Make sure you are complying to Nevada homeschooling laws by following these steps:

File Your Notice of Intent to Homeschool

Before embarking on your homeschool adventure, send a one-time notice to the local school district superintendent. This must be done before your grand journey begins, or no later than 10 days after you’ve waved farewell to public school—or 30 days after settling into your Nevada home. You only need to file once, unless your home or name magically changes, in which case you have 30 days to notify the superintendent again.

The Nevada Department of Education has provided a standard scroll, or you may use our own enchanted version. Your notice must include:

  • The full name, age, and gender of your young scholar;
  • Your own name and residence;
  • A magical oath signed by you, affirming that you have the power to guide your child’s learning and take full responsibility for their education;
  • An educational plan detailing the wondrous subjects you’ll teach, tailored perfectly to your child’s age and abilities;
  • The name of the public school your child last attended (if relevant); and
  • An optional privacy spell to keep your information secure.

Once the superintendent receives your notice, they’ll send you an official acknowledgment letter—a golden ticket to prove you’re following Nevada’s homeschool laws.

Teach the Core Subjects

Nevada law requires that your homeschool curriculum include these key subjects:

  • English (tales of reading, composition, and writing),
  • Math (numbers, patterns, and puzzles),
  • Science (exploring the mysteries of the universe), and
  • Social Studies (the histories, lands, economies, and governments of the world).
