This is a blank monthly log you print and fill in by hand. Missouri counts core hours separately, so the sheet carries a Core? and an At home? column alongside the hours -- the split that decides whether a logged hour counts toward the requirement, and the one families most often reconstruct after the fact.

- Six columns: Date, Subjects / Activities, Hours, Core?, At home?, and Notes -- 18 ruled rows, about one month of school days

What goes in each field
Most of the columns are obvious. The two that decide whether a logged hour counts toward Missouri's requirement are not.
Date
The day the instruction happened. Log as you go -- a date written a month later is the part a reviewer can most easily doubt.
Subjects / Activities
What you actually covered. Specific beats tidy: "fractions, word problems" is worth more than "math".
Hours
Time spent, in hours or fractions of one. Count instruction, reading, and the field trip; the sheet has room in Notes for anything you want to justify later.
Core?
Whether the hour counts toward Missouri's 600 core hours. Tick it for the subjects the state names as core.
At home?
Where the instruction happened. Missouri distinguishes hours taught at the home location from hours elsewhere, and the distinction is easier to record than to reconstruct.
Notes
Anything you would want to explain a year from now -- an illness, a co-op day, a curriculum change mid-year.

Print one sheet per month
Twelve sheets covers a school year with room to spare. Keep them in one folder rather than loose.

Fill it in the same day
The log is worth what its dates are worth. Two minutes at the end of the day beats an hour of remembering in June.

Total the month and compare it to the target
Add the Hours column at the end of each month and hold it against Missouri's 1,000 hours a year. Catching a shortfall in November is a scheduling change; catching it in May is not.

File it with the rest of the year
The log is the piece that answers "what did you actually do" -- keep it with your filings and work samples.

Common questions
Does Missouri require me to log hours?
Missouri requires 1,000 hours a year. The statute sets the amount rather than the format, so how you record it is up to you -- but you need to be able to show you met it.
Do I have to send this to anyone?
No. Missouri does not collect hour logs. You keep it, and it does its work only if someone ever asks what your year looked like.
Is a handwritten log good enough?
Yes. Nothing in any state's rules requires software. What matters is that the record is contemporaneous and specific enough to show what was taught and when.
What counts as a core hour in Missouri?
Missouri sets 600 of the 1,000 hours as core instruction. The Missouri hours guide lists the subjects the state names and how the at-home portion is counted.
