Veritas Press — Veritas Press

About

What it is

Veritas Press is a classical Christian curriculum that provides one of the most academically rigorous options in the homeschool market. Founded by Marlin and Laurie Detweiler, the program serves over 100,000 families with a full K-12 classical education built on the trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric) and a deep engagement with the Great Books tradition.

Veritas Press offers three distinct learning models. The "You-Teach" option provides print materials and teacher guides for parent-directed instruction. Self-paced online courses deliver video lessons and interactive content that students work through independently. Live online classes connect students with expert teachers and classmates in real-time virtual seminars. Families can mix models across subjects and grade levels.

The Omnibus program is Veritas Press's signature offering at the upper levels — a Great Books curriculum where students read primary sources (Homer, Virgil, Augustine, Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, and dozens more) and engage in Socratic discussion about theology, philosophy, history, and literature. It is one of the most intellectually demanding homeschool programs available.

Pricing varies significantly by model and grade level. The Kindergarten "Good" package starts around $249, "Better" packages (adding more components) run about $599, and "Best" packages reach $749. Upper grades with live online classes carry additional tuition costs that can be substantial.

Veritas Press is explicitly Christian with a Reformed Protestant perspective. Biblical worldview integration is thorough and unapologetic across every subject. The academic expectations are high — students read challenging texts, write extensively, and are expected to think critically about complex ideas from an early age.

The program is not for families seeking a relaxed or gentle homeschool experience. The workload is significant, the reading lists are demanding, and the Socratic method requires genuine intellectual engagement. But for families committed to rigorous classical Christian education with college-scholarship-level preparation, Veritas Press is among the strongest options available.
